This is fun and I think it is a good approach to the challenge posed by the translation of the word play!
Just noting (for any reader who doesn't know enough German more than for you, of course) that the emotional resonance of the ending becomes rather different.
I always felt rather sorry for that poor werewolf in the German version, but here he actually departs happy!
