Biden Supports TRIPS Waiver!

ermingardenThe Biden administration has come out in support of waiving intellectual property protections for Covid vaccines! (NY Times) This is a crucial issue for global vaccine equity.
Quote from Katherine Tai, the US trade representative: "This is a global health crisis, and the extraordinary circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic call for extraordinary measures. The administration believes strongly in intellectual property protections, but in service of ending this pandemic, supports the waiver of those protections for Covid-19 vaccines."
The US was a major holdout at the World Trade Organization opposing the waiver; hopefully other countries that have been opposing the waiver will follow its lead.
