James Asher Vampire Novels (I am unhinged!)

I spent much of the past few days absolutely devouring Barbara Hambly's James Asher vampire novels series and I am just blown away – I can't believe I haven't read them before, I adore urban fantasy! Hambly's Star Wars novels are some of my favorites, but I hadn't read any of her other books – God only knows why it took me this long!

This series is my favorite take on vampires I've ever encountered. I'll post a discussion of each book individually at some point; I am currently too unhinged by this series to discuss it rationally.

Anyway, I desperately need more! So I'm putting everything else on hold while I go commit write some (self-indulgent) fic. I don't think I've ever had such an immediate urge to go write after finishing something!

So...expect vampire fic before too long <3

Hambly's Star Wars novels are some of my favorites, but I hadn't read any of her other books

I've just gotten into her Benjamin January mysteries! I'll have to put her vampire novels on my list; I remember seeing at least one of them on Libby when I was borrowing the Benjamin January one.

They are delightful! I have read them all except the last one (and the short story set after it.)

I wasn't expecting to like the last one as much as I did – and the novella was very fun, though a very different tone.

The Benjamin January series was my first introduction to Hambly's writing, and I love it dearly. I've read the first three James Asher books, and really love them too — they're just fairly difficult to get hold of in the UK so I've had to read the series quite slowly.

I've had so many people recommend the Benjamin January series, and I'm excited to try it!
