Thomas Tallis, "If Ye Love Me"

One of the ways of maintaining community that's sustained me so far in lockdown is participation in my university parish's virtual choir. For Mass today, we recorded the absolutely gorgeous sixteenth-century motet "If Ye Love Me" by Thomas Tallis; our version is on YouTube here. I think this is my favorite piece we've sung yet!

Oh, I envy you the virtual choir so much! We don't have any, sadly, and I can't say how much I miss singing. I try to do it on my own but keep not doing it - something always seems to get in the way. *sigh* It's also difficult to find the possiblity to do so as during the day I can't as my husband is having meetings most of the time, and he sits in the dining room where the piano is.
I absolutely love the Tallis, too. My choir performed it on a concert with British componists through the ages last year, and it was so, so beautiful. I'm a tenor so I got to sing a particularly lovely part (I think), too. ^^

That's so tough! I find it difficult too to maintain activities like this without structure. I don't know if this is feasible for you, but I wonder if you've heard about the Stay At Home Choir - I haven't done anything with them yet but I'm thinking of submitting a recording for their next project. The most recent video had 700+ participants. It wouldn't have the same feeling of community, but it might be the next best thing.

Ooh, the tenor part is gorgeous! I'm usually an alto, though I've sung tenor sometimes, and for this recording our director actually needed me on soprano.
