Giving Blood
Feb. 23rd, 2021 01:26 pmI donated blood yesterday, something I try to do on a regular basis; I'm Type O, the universal donor, so I consider it almost a duty.
If you're able to give blood (though I know many are not), I encourage you to do so, especially right now! Blood donations have dramatically declined during COVID, but the need for blood is just as high as it has always been. Per the America's Blood Centers website, more than thirty percent of blood centers in the US have less than a one-day supply of blood. If you're in the US, the Red Cross website has a tool to help you find a blood drive in your area (if you're in New York, go to the New York Blood Center website instead). It's a very easy way to save someone's life.

Date: 2021-02-25 12:02 pm (UTC)I haven't been allowed to donate so far as I'm hemophiliac although I'm waiting for a consultation with a specialis to decide if I might do it after all, as I also have a too high blood platelet count. I hope I'm going to be allowed, as I always wanted to donate.
