Day 2: Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.
Before Thangorodrim: The Last Fall of Himring Hill by Anna_Wing
Fandom: Silmarillion
Word Count: 9560
Pairing(s): None/Gen
Author's Summary: "Finarfin, Finrod. Maedhros, Maglor and the Host of the Noldor, during the War of Wrath"
Comments: This fic deals elegantly and creatively with moments and relationships I rarely see in Silmarillion fic. Certain lines and moments stay with me: Maedhros' interaction with Vanamirë, and his line when the walls of Himring fall, I could quote from memory just because of how powerful they are.
Missing by Firerose
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Word Count: 13687
Pairing(s): Eowyn/Faramir, but that is not the main focus of the fic.
Author's Summary: "The new Steward delves into the past, whilst coming to terms with the present, and the future. Set during Return of the King"
Comments: This fic has influenced my understanding of Faramir's character more than any other. It is written in delicate and brilliantly-characterized first person. In addition to the Eowyn/Faramir pairing, it features particularly lovely interactions between Aragorn and Faramir. Be aware that this fic does deal with difficult topics; I don't want to spoil anything here, but tread carefully. The author notes that this fic is not necessarily an AU, but although it does not contradict the text it does include elements neither present in it nor suggested by it. Overall, it is a brilliant fic and a fun read!
Handle With Care by TheLionInMyBed
Fandom: Silmarillion
Word Count: 2518
Pairing(s): Fingon/Maedhros, but not explicitly romantic or sexual
Author's Summary: "After the Dagor Aglareb, Maedhros would like to be left alone to brood. Fingon would like them to be alone together. They reach a compromise i.e. do exactly what Fingon wants."
Comments: This is the fic that got me started shipping Fingon and Maedhros. What more can I say? It is a lovely exploration of the characters and their relationship. Truthfully, Fingon/Maedhros was the first ship I ever really cared about; in my prior fandom involvement I pretty much always preferred gen fics and didn't care much about one ship or another. Reading this fic is what changed that!
