Snack Food Crossover Event

Saw these "Limited Time Flavors" at the drugstore the other day, and of course I had to try them!

Funyuns Flavored Wavy Potato Chips
Rating: ★★★☆☆

A mediocre onion-flavored chip. Pleasant, but one-dimensional. Doesn't measure up to a more traditional sour cream & onion or sweet Maui onion chip.

Doritos Cool Ranch Potato Chips
Rating: ★★☆☆☆

This is the more interesting crossover chip, because what they seem to have done is literally put the same flavor powder from the Cool Ranch Doritos onto potato chips instead of corn chips.

Unfortunately, it's not very good. (...I still finished the bag, though.) But I'm not a massive fan of Cool Ranch Doritos to start with, so someone who adores Cool Ranch might like these chips a lot more!

This was not the crossover I was expecting from the title, but I'm here for it! The PepsiCo multiverse has a larger reach than I thought.

Your comment prompted me to look up what brands PepsiCo owns, and...yeah, that's a bigger collection of well-known names than I'm entirely comfortable with!

Well considering that I recently did an A03 search to see if anyone had written fics about the Pringles mascot (whose name, by the way, is "Julius Pringles"), I was expecting less of a review of actual snacks and more of Chester Cheetah teaming up with the Quaker Oats man to bring down Capt'n Crunch. I don't know, I've seen stranger things happen in fanfic.

Sometimes I have difficulty grocery shopping because I Know Too Much, and become paralyzed with indecision like Chidi in The Good Place. There's no way to win.

Has anyone written about Julius Pringles? Now you have me imagining snack mascots as a superhero team...they say truth is stranger than fiction, but very little is stranger than fanfiction!

Yes, there are a few fics (mostly various flavors of porn). There are also a surprising number of fics for other fandoms titled "Pringles" or using the "Pringles" tag, which I had not expected.

I think the market (heh) is wide open for this sub-sub-genre!

It's the kind of flavour that sounds good on paper, not so much in practice.

If you come across hamburger flavoured chips, and poutine chips, avoid them like the plague. They taste like a pigeon's butthole (not that I'm experienced in pigeon butthole tasting).
